I’m Kent Dang, a Computer Science graduate of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), Class of 2026. I’m currently a software engineer with a focus on web development, mobile applications, data analysis, and AI/ML.

My research interests lie in the Internet of Things (IoT), embedded systems, and wearables. In the lab, I worked on building knowledge graphs for IoT devices and policies, as well as with smart rings.

Research

• Developed and trained a CNN to classify handwritten and typed keyboard letters from IMU motion data captured by a custom smart ring
• Built a pipeline to generate and validate abstracted IoT entities into a knowledge graph, using a custom-built, multi-layered validation framework
