Alan T. Sherman is a Professor of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). His research covers the security of voting systems, protocol analysis, cybersecurity education, cryptology, and discrete algorithms, including the VoteXX, Scantegrity, and Random Sample Election projects. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from MIT in 1987, his M.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT in 1981, and his B.A. in Mathematics from Brown University in 1978.
